The 7th grade B boys basketball team had a tough week on the road last week. They opened up on Monday with a come from behind 25-23 win against Coopersville. The boys 7th grade A basketball had a tough road schedule this week. Monday the team traveled to Coopersville and played a hard fought game but came up on the short end of the contest. Then Wednesday traveled to East Grand Rapids and play very talented EGR team once again the young men fell short of the victory.
Tonight, the Wildcats had an exciting game against the Wolves who held the lead after the first quarter 6-2, they stayed ahead at the half 12-9. After three, Wyoming was still ahead 18-13. The Wildcats showed great heart and effort in the fourth quarter, Wayland took the lead and held it, winning the game 26-21..
The Wildcats took on a very tough opponent tonight and came out on the short end of the score 36-5. EGR was extremely tall and created difficulty for us on the glass. Three Wildcats scored. Next game tomorrow vs Wyoming.
Tonight’s game was a hard fought contest. Coopersville started the game hitting a 3. The Wildcats fought back and were ahead 13-9, at the half, still ahead 23-12 after 3 quarters, and finally pulled out the win 27-21. Leading the way were Carson Vandenbos and Christian Seiffert with 8 points each, while Cooper Lechel added 6.
The 8th grade B boys basketball team had their first game on Wednesday, 11/8. The game was hard fought with some tough defense and timely baskets. Wayland prevailed 28-15. The Wildcats were led by Lucas Hindenach with 11 points, and Christian Seiffert with 9. Next up is Coopersville on Monday, 11/13.
The 7th grade boys basketball B team opened up the season at Middleville-Thornapple Kellogg and captured a hard fought road win with a score of 19-10. The Wayland Wildcats 7th grade A team defeated the TK 7th grade A team. It was a close game at half time then in the 2nd half the Wildcats loosened up and started hitting shots and making good passes. Everybody contributed to the win, the young men played hard. It is good way to start
Middle School Winter I sports parent meeting will take place on Monday, October 30th. The meeting will be held in the WMS media center and start promptly at 4:45. Winter I sports include boys basketball, swimming and competitive cheer. Look forward to seeing you on the 30th.”
Middle School boys basketball tryouts start on Tuesday, October 24th and will go through Thursday, October 26th. Tryouts will be combined and run from 3:00 – 5:00 each day.
