Despite playing arguably their best defensive game of the young season, the visiting Wildcats were defeated by the Sailors on Thursday by a score of 3-0.
The score at halftime was 1-0 with Wayland seeing few opportunities to score, but limiting the Sailor’s offense to only 6 shots and the one goal. The second half was much the same with the Wildcat defense standing firm against waves of Sailors and a long strike on a failed clearance and a goal with 15 seconds remaining in the game were the deciding factors in the game.
Keeper, Lilly Bolliger made 3 saves in the contest.
The girls have a busy week next week with 3 games and hope to find their first win of the season on Monday as they travel to Zeeland West. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 6:45.
