A rainy Monday night left the Wildcats drenched and defeated, losing 3-1 on the road to East Grand Rapids. After taking a quick lead on a Kennedy Thelen goal, the Wildcats maintained dominance over much of the half but conceded a late equalizer with 5 minutes remaining in the half.
In the second half, it was the Pioneers who struck first when they capitalized on a failed clearance by the Wildcat defense and found the back of the net to take the lead. Not long after that, a long ball to the back post and a headed goal gave them the final goal of the match. Despite the Wildcat’s best efforts, chance after chance was turned away by an outstanding effort by the Pioneer keeper.
The loss brings the Wildcat’s record to 6-7-2 (3-6-1 OK Gold)
The girls wrap up their season on Wednesday evening at home as they play host to conference foes Grand Rapids Christian.
