Wildcats News · Coaches Corner: Sue Brewer

Mrs. Brewer has been a cross country coach for 22 years and for 15 of those years she also coached track, sending kids to state year after year. She started in 1996 by starting up the program at the middle school, as she was looking for a sport that was available to all kids that they could use all the energy that all middle school kids have. Also she wanted to guide kids to live long happy and healthy lives. Her favorite parts are seeing kids come together and have fun guiding their energy in a positive direction and watching the kids set goals and work hard to succeed them, and seeing everyone have a chance to reach those goals as their is nobody that is “benched”. Also it is always a great thing to see former runners get a chance to run at a collegiate level. Some events that happen throughout the year are the mud run and the midnight run that are big events that bring the team together as one. The cross country team made its third appearance in the state finals as a whole as they placed 3rd in regionals and had one girl named Rylee Cronkright place 12th at the state finals as a freshman this year.
