Meet Recap

The Lady Wildcats placed 2nd on a warm humid morning around Cedar Springs Elementary School and adjacent corn field, with 6 medalists. Running first for the Wildcats with a personal best time of 19:58 was senior captain Maggie Whitney in 4th place. This places her as the 9th fastest female runner in Wayland history, just behind Coach Brewer’s daughter Sarah and Melissa Russo. Running 2nd for the Wildcats in 6th place was Rylee Cronkright, with a 20:13. Also running personal best times were Mie Tornbjerg, with a 20:59 in 10th place and Naomi Oosterhouse, with a 21:36 in 16th place. The other medalists for Wayland were Zoe Antel in 23rd place with a season best time of 22:03 and senior captain Abbie Hasse in 25th place with a 22:19. Payton Sidebotham ran 7th for the girls with a season best time of 23:06.

The Wildcat Ladies Junior Varsity team also brought home a 2nd place trophy and 4 medalists. 6th place finisher Gracie Hasse led her team with a 24:07, followed by Sydney Hielkema (8th), Corrina Courser (10th) and Megan Rose (15th) who ran a personal best time of 25:44. Running her first 5K ever was Ukranian exchange student Alisa Khvenko.
