What a great day at Houseman Field for the OK Gold Conference Championship. The Wildcats from Wayland brought home some nice hardware with several of our girls earning Conference Medals. In the Discus, the Senior Trio of Mckenna Dutkiewicz (PR 85’08”), Captain Elizabeth Barnes, and Hannah Rybiski (PR 81’11”) took 4th, 7th, and 8th place, with Metzli Cruz also PR-ing with a throw of 54’01”. The 4 x 800 team of Zoe Antel, Abbie Hasse, Rylee Cronkright, and Maggie Whitney took 4th in a new PR of 10:34.66. The 4 x 200 team posted our best time of the season. Taking 6th was Kali Klein, Jessica Hortman, Brittany Ludwig, and Khylea Wells. Maggie Whitney doubled-up with the 400 and 800 today. She took 3rd in the 400 (PR 61.87) and won the 800 (2:22.75). Maggie earned “All Conference” status with her overwhelming victory in the 800â¦beating all competitors by over 6 seconds! Corrina Courser had a tough go of in the 100 Hurdles today, wiping out in the prelims and possibly spraining her wrist. She came back strong, running the 200 prelims in 27.84 and placed 8th in the 200 Finals with a time of 28.31. She also took 3rd in the 300 hurdles with a PR of 49.03. Grace Hasse and Savannah VanHouten also ran PRs of 55.24 and 59.45, respectively. The heat of the day happened to come on around the start of the 3200 race for the girls. Rylee Cronkright worked her way through the pack and passed two girls in the last 300 meters to claim the 7th place medal. To finish the meet, the 4 x 400 team of Whitney, Rybiski, Hasse, and Courser ran 4:31.9 to place 4th. The Wildcats travel to Comstock on Monday to compete in their Invitational before traveling back to Houseman Field for the Regionals next weekend.
