South Christian High School
Wayland High School
The lady Wildcats dropped their home opener against South Christian last night 3-0. The game was even for most of the first half, but it was the Sailors who were able to break the deadlock and score on a set piece. The Wildcats ratcheted up the pressure following the goal testing the Sailor keeper twice in quick succession but were unlucky not to have found the back of the net and went into halftime trailing by a goal.
The second half remained even until the Sailors were able to once again break through and find their second goal of the game, quickly followed by their third to put the game out of reach late on.
Keeper Rachel Wienclaw made 7 saves facing 10 shots in the loss.
The loss brings Wayland’s record to 1-3 (1-2 OK Gold). The girls are back in action on Wednesday evening as they host Zeeland West, kickoff at 6:00pm.
