The Wayland Junior Varsity Girls soccer team opened their season at home on Tuesday afternoon with a 2-2 tie against Coopersville. The Wildcats played a very strong game against a much more experienced Broncos squad. Scoring for the Wildcats was Jackie Richardson off of a beautiful assist from Brandalyn Helderop, and Cassie Schafer knocking in a beautiful corner kick from Jackie Richardson. Amber O’Connell also played a very strong defensive game in her Wildcat debut. The team will look to build upon this momentum Thursday night in Byron Center against the Bulldogs.
