Game Recap

The Wayland Union Varsity Baseball team captured the 2017 Evart Cat Classic Title with a 11-0 5-inning mercy rule win over the Harrison Hornets in the championship game. Kayd Hulst delivered a magnificent performance both on the mound and at the plate for the Wildcats. Hulst pitched a complete game shutout, allowing 3 hits and striking out 5. At the plate, Hulst went 2-for-2 with 2 doubles, 5 RBI’s, and a run scored.

The Wildcats jumped on the Hornets early and never looked back, as they pounded out 10 hits in the contest. Leading hitters for the Wayland Union offense were Ben Barnes, Jamie Snyder, Bradey Weston, Travis Cutler, Chris Kincaid, and Carter Morse. Barnes was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored, Snyder was 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored, Weston was 1-for-1 with a double, RBI, run scored, and 2 walks. Cutler was 1-for-1 with 2 runs scored, Kincaid was 1-for-3 with an RBI, and Morse was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
