Game Recap

A change of venues wasn’t enough to deny the Wildcats of their first win of the season as they defeated Grand Rapids Christian 3-0. The game started slowly with the Eagles controlling much of the possession but the Wildcat defense stayed strong and kept the Eagles off the board. Brinley Nieuwenhuis opened the scoring for the Wildcats when she calmly slotted a pass from McKenna Bruin into the back of the net to see the score at 1-0 going into halftime.

The second half saw the Wildcats apply more pressure offensively and sophomore Amanda Brown netted twice to seal the victory.

Rachel Wienclaw made 10 saves while facing 10 shots and posted her first clean sheet of the season.

The win brings the Wildcat’s record to 1-1 on the season (1-0 OK Gold). They travel to TK on Thursday night for a massive conference matchup against local rivals, and last season’s conference champs, the Trojans. Kickoff is at 6:45.
