Game Recap

The Wildcat girls picked right up where they left off last week Thursday, with their second consecutive win on Monday evening, beating Allendale by a score of 4-1.

The girls came out firing offensively, putting 17 shots on goal over the course of the game. They piled on the pressure early until Mckenna Bruin was able to open the scoring on a nice pass from Brinley Nieuwenhuis nine minutes into the game. About ten minutes later, Nieuwenhuis herself, got in on the action on a nice pass from fellow captain, Emily Gray, to double the Wildcat lead. Not wanting to be left out of the scoring action, Amanda Brown scored the final goal of the half on another nice assist from Emily Gray.

The second half saw continued offensive pressure from the home team as they looked sure to build on their three-goal lead. It took about twenty minutes before the Wildcats were able to find the back of the net again, as Amanda Brown scored her second of the game to bring the score to 4-0 in favor of the home team. The visitors would add a late goal on a nice shot to beat senior keeper, Paxton Granger, who was making her second appearance of the season after recovering from off-season knee surgery. That goal was all the Wildcats would allow and the final score would end 4-1 in favor of the Wildcats.

The win brings the Wildcat’s record this season to 8-6 (5-3 OK Gold). The girls are back in action on Wednesday evening as they host conference foes Wyoming in their second-to-last conference game of the season.
