Wayland has 4 athletes that play for the Byron Center Varsity Co-op Hockey team. Two were recognized in a previous article, and below is how the other two responded in regards to their 2017 season:

Michael Anderson #21

From the beginning of the season we have really progressed as a team both on and off the ice. Our current record is 11-8 overall and 7-2 in conference.

I’m confident we can succeed in regionals, we just need to keep to our game plan and play the way we know how to.
My favorite part of this hockey season was when we played Grand Haven for the number one spot in tier 3.
Mitch Nagel  #11
For my personal goals, I am doing great.  Lately I have been playing on a line with Logan Davis and Tanner Moore and we really have been clicking and having good chemistry.  I personally have 8 goals and 5 assists.  As a team we are living up to our goal of winning tier 3.  Currently we are 12-8 overall.  In our tier we are in first place and the next 3 weeks will decide if we win.  If our team stands strong and keeps playing with our hearts we will succeed.
Our team has drawn a good first round test.  It will be a game with lots of speed and physicality. We play West Ottawa.  The winner will play Hudsonville who has a bye.  We should have a tough match up but we are a good team as well.
The most memorable part of the season so far has been the first game.  The first game was a memorable game as it was the first game in the history of the program.  The stands were packed and the crowd was electric and it really made us fire on all cylinders.
